Mark Kowalczyk, MD
Advanced Endoscopy Preceptor
Dr. Kowalczyk is an Advanced Endoscopy Preceptor at UC San Diego, where he also completed his Gastroenterology fellowship—serving as Chief Fellow—and his Internal Medicine residency. Originally from Washington State, he earned his medical degree from the University of Washington before couples matching with his wife into Internal Medicine at UCSD. During residency, he was honored with the Leland Rickman Teaching Award, given to the top teaching resident, reflecting his dedication to medical education. His clinical interests include third space endoscopy and interventional endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), with a focus on advancing minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in gastrointestinal care.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two young children—a spirited two-year-old son and a newborn daughter.
