Liver Journal Club & Hepatology Series

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology conducts a weekly Liver Journal Club and Hepatology Series designed to promote ongoing education and scholarly discussion in hepatology and liver transplantation. Participants include attending physicians, fellows, residents, nurses, nurse practitioners, and, on occasion, medical and nursing students, fostering a multidisciplinary learning environment.

Each session features presentations by faculty members from hepatology, surgery, pathology, pharmacy, and related specialties, as well as by GI and Liver Transplant fellows who critically review recent journal articles in a PowerPoint format. Topics encompass a broad range of liver and transplant-related subjects, including hepatocellular carcinoma, viral hepatitis, MASLD, decompensated cirrhosis, liver transplantation, and the management of post-transplant patients.

Sessions conclude with an open discussion that encourages critical analysis, evidence-based dialogue, and knowledge exchange among participants. Through these academic activities, the Division seeks to advance clinical expertise, enhance research literacy, and ultimately improve the quality of care delivered to patients with liver disease.
