Fellows are entitled to four (4) weeks of paid vacation each year. Vacations are scheduled in advance to allow coverage and cancellation of continuity clinics. Additional leave for illness, family medical emergencies, or maternity/paternity may be taken according to UCSD GME policy.
Group health insurance and disability plans are available to fellows and their dependents, as well as dental and vision coverage, provided as an employee benefit with NO COST to the fellow or his/her dependents.
There is a $40,000 life insurance plan for the fellow, which includes a double indemnity clause of $80,000 and is provided by the University at no cost to the fellow. Malpractice insurance is also provided by the University.
Fellows have access to the library resources of UCSD and the San Diego VA Medical Center. UCSD Library access is available offsite via the Internet.
Fellows for 2022-2023 will receive a $9,000 housing stipend and $750 education stipend. Parental bonding leave (4 weeks of 100% paid leave for each qualifying event) and meal allowance of $150/month.
Fellows also have access to recreational facilities available to students to the main UCSD campus, including the large indoor and outdoor swimming pools at the SDSU/UCSD Mission Bay Aquatics Center.
