The Hsu Lab explores how the gut microbiome shapes risk and resilience in alcohol use disorder and alcohol-related liver disease. By combining human biospecimen analysis, gnotobiotic mouse models, and state‑of‑the‑art microbiology culturing, sequencing, and metabolomics, we aim to uncover microbial pathways that drive disease or protect against it, with the ultimate goal of advancing novel therapies and improving patient care.
