New Preclinical Models Core Co-Director:

We are delighted to announce that Dr. John Chang will be joining our team as the new Preclinical Models Core Co-Director. Dr. Chang brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of immunology, making him an invaluable addition to our leadership team. Dr. Chang, a Professor of Medicine, is a physician-scientist with a research interest in mucosal immunology and host-microbial interactions in the intestine. He has extensive experience with murine models of enteritis and colitis, including toxin-induced, infectious, and immune cell transfer models. He will provide advice on animal models of luminal disease, thereby complementing the liver expertise of Dr. Kisseleva.
In this new role, Dr. Chang will be instrumental in guiding our strategic initiatives and advancing our goals. His vision and leadership will help us continue to excel in providing outstanding services to our community.

New Preclinical Models Core Veterinary Pathologist:

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Kenneth Kim has joined our team as the Preclinical Models Core Pathologist. Dr. Kim is a board-certified pathologist and Director of the La Jolla Institute Histopathology Core. He has extensive post-graduate training in rodent pathology in addition to experience in diagnostic histopathology, clinical pathology, and immunodiagnostics. In addition to analysis, the Histopathology Core works closely with Microscopy and Histology to provide LJI users support with experimental planning, necropsy, fixation, enzyme immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. Dr. Kim brings a wealth of expertise and experience in pathology, making him a valuable addition to our team.

New Human Translational Core Biostatistician:

We are excited to announce that Dr. Xinlian Zhang will be joining the Human Translational Core as the new Core Biostatistician. Dr. Zhang has extensive expertise and experience in the field of biostatistics, making her a vital addition to our research and analysis team. Dr. Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics in the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health at UCSD. She is well versed in the analysis of longitudinal data, and various types of next-generation sequencing data with a focus on metagenomic sequencing and single-cell RNA seq data. She will advise investigators on study design, power analysis, general data analysis strategies, and incorporating advanced machine learning techniques in the analytic pipeline.
Her skills in data analysis, statistical modeling, and research methodology will be invaluable in advancing our projects and enhancing the quality of our research outputs.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Zhang to SDDRC. We look forward to the contributions she will make to our team and the advancements she will bring to our research.
